Getting prepared to give birth?

Getting prepared to give birth?

Are you almost about to pop? What to expect?

If you have reached 36 weeks, it means you are considered full-term and any time now, your little one could pop. So watch out for symptoms and be prepared! With that said, the mix of emotions, excitement, fear, hopeful, happiness steps in, and hey, just take a deep breathe and let nature takes its course! It is also time to make sure your hospital bag is ready.

Here are some of the recommended things to pack:

  • Gynae’s admission letter
  • Marriage cert
  • Identification cards of both mummy and daddy
  • 1 set clothes for mummy (to change when you check out - you would probably be wearing hospital gowns during your stay period)
  • Warm socks for mummy (during delivery and the stay, it can get really cold at some point)
  • 2-3 sets of clothes for daddy (depending if he is staying over with mummy in the ward)
  • Jacket for daddy as it can be cold in the ward
  • 1 set of baby clothes (to wear when your baby goes home)
  • Phone charger

Optional

  • Breast pump (the first 2 days, it will usually be focused on breastfeeding, plus breast milk doesnt kicks in until 4-5 days after birth). So bringing the breast pump will be optional, and it could just be to seek a lactation consultant on how to use it.
  • Diapers. Hospital will provide one packet of it, and unless you have a preference, you can bring if you like
  • Formula milk powder. Hospitals will usually provide formula milk if needed, but if you have a preference, you can bring it.

Way to go mummy!
